This is our third espresso blend, named after the area where we are based. Charlestown is more of a traditional style blend, a touch darker than the Unione, with lots of body, which cuts perfectly through milk.

The Coffee

50% Brazil Fazenda Pantano:

Mundo Novo varietal and Natural process. 1150 masl.

Sumatra Mandheling Grade 1:
Grown around 1150 to 1450 meters above sea level, in the northern regions of Aceh’s capital Takengon. Varietal is mainly Typica & Caturra, The coffee is semi-washed and wet-hulled, a process that involves the part-drying of freshly pulped beans before removing the parchment.

  1. The chaps at Casa mentioned this idea last year sometime.. they had me at ‘Twix in a cup’ !
    Once all the beans sourcing was in place and it launched, a few months later, I was straight in for a bag. The Charlestown went instantly onto my Favourites list. I’ve been back for more a few times now, and it’s still on the list.
    As I tend to not do milked coffees for myself, I get more of a plain chocolate version of the confectionery with extra dark biscuit in espresso form, spot-on for me.
    I’ve also had great unbidden reactions when serving this blend unannounced to guests.. ‘This is nice coffee’!

    My favourite blend from the guys at Casa Espresso. So smooth and full bodied it will just leave you wanting more. I have tried other coffees from other roasters but always return to this. Simply a triumph.
